Day 15 of 29-Day Giving Challenge

I wished this item looked better in the photo than it does. Sorry. I really need to figure out how to use my camera better and figure out a way to hang, lay, or place my items before I take the pictures.

It really is a nice tassel and the fiber that is pulled through the beaded skirt will be fixed before it is mailed to you.

This is a beaded tassel that I made in the shades of purple.... you know the color of royalty, using glass seed beads, crystals, and glass beads. I used 3 different fibers for the fringe. It has a total length of 12 inches and the top of the tassel to the bottom of the fringe measures in at 6-1/2 inches.

Posted by Picasa
So if you might like to own this tassel to hang on your bedroom mirror, or a your bathroom door knob then leave a comment here and you will be in the drawing. You can still enter the other give-a-ways from Day 6 to this one as they are still open for entering.

Days 6 through 12 will be closed for entering by Sunday
Evening so that I can get the winners posted by the first of the week.

Sp far there are only 3 people in the special drawing for those that post about this on their blog. So right now the chance of winning is really high. To be placed in the special drawing at the end, all you have to do is post about my 29 - Day Giving Challenge on your blog and leave me a message that you have done so, then your name will go in the hat for the special gift.

Good luck and I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

I made out like a bandit!!!!!

Wow! Did you happen to follow the Gypsy Caravan of the One World - One Heart event? I won several items...well a total of seven and I only got to a total of 609 blogs out of the 900+ that joined in this year. Still waiting on a few - will post those when they arrive, but the ones I have received are these: (please forgive my lousy photography)

From Holly's Folly -Glass, I won this gorgeous lamp worked heart necklace. The pictures below shows both sides of this beautiful pink, white, and clear swirled glass bead. Holly makes a variety of lamp worked glass beads. And she has the yummiest looking chocolate beads that just make my mouth water. She also gives away free beads on her site, and sells beads, jewelry, findings, and tools.

Nancy, at All Pulped Out blog gave away multiple items, but she also made 150 cards for people who signed up to follow her blog. I was one of those lucky 150 people and I am so tickled because she also sent me this wonderful and very peaceful piece of art as well as the card. And I love them both. The card is made from a picture she took of a stone... in the shape of a heart and the Angel plaque warms my heart when I start to think of my Mother (who I lost in September 2008) ..... it has a way of calming me and making me feel very peaceful. Nancy also has a wonderful website by the same name, All Pulped Out that is full of inspiration. She has wonderful artwork that I love to look at and admire.

From Pat and Priscilla (the happy spokes goat) of Happy Goat Soap, I won three delicious bars of goat's milk soap of my choice from their etsy shop. I chose:

  1. Goats Love to Eat Pine Trees Soap - Rich Goats Milk Soap - Scented with Rose
  2. Maaaaaaasssage Bar - Rich Goats Milk Soap - Scented with Strawberry Heaven
  3. a gardenia bar (that's the curled up kitty bar in the picture)
I've only had one other bar of handmade soap and that was a couple years ago, so I had forgotten how nice it was. I was so impressed with this goat's milk soap. It felt good on my skin, when I rinsed off - it rinsed away to easily and left me feeling so clean, un-like commercial soap that leaves a film on my skin. The scents were so yummy and intoxicating. There are many sizes and shapes of soap. I really liked the curled up kitty cat one. And I'm looking forward to using the massage bar too!

(picture only shows two of the three bars)

I was chosen as the 3rd prize winner by Pat at the Odd-Dolls Blog. I was so tickled to find out that I won four rubber stamps, 3 jars of embossing powders, several stickers stickers, bingo ATC cards and two journal blocks. Can't wait to put these items to use in my own artwork.

I'd like to thank everyone that sent me a prize and I really appreciate it and love them all. I have made some wonderful friends and found some awesome blogs to visit and re-visit. I still have more blogs to check out and a few more prizes to post about. If you didn't follow the caravan this year... you really need to next year. It was a spectacular event!

Forgive me... I didn't get this....

Posted as promised, I hope you can forgive me. These darned computer problems keep getting in the way.... crashing and losing everything you were working on is a pain the arse! Anyhow .....

This is the gorgeous necklace that I won from Harmony Jewelry designs. It's made with jade, moss agate and miracle beads. And I love it! I love the colors! I love the stones and beads that Danica used! And the length is perfect for me.

Day 13 of 29 - Day Giving Challenge

For today's 29 - Day Giving Challenge, I have another broach for you. This one has a theme of coffee... one of my favorite flavors. The rubber stamped saying is: Is there life before coffee? I made this one using a recycled cd, copper foil tape, embossing powder, rubber stamps, glass beads, leather cording, and a swarovski crystal.

Posted by Picasa
By now, you should know the routine...leave a message on this post to be entered to win this braoch. Good luck everyone!

Today we have a very special give-a-way from a gal from my home state of Illinois. Her name is Danica (don'tcha' just love that name) and she makes some gorgeous jewelry. I know, I won a beautiful necklace from her and received it in the mail yesterday (pictures to come later today). And it couldn't be more perfect for me, as I absolutely love the colors and the stones she used.

Danica's site is

This beautiful bracelet that is made of Jade and glass beads would be perfect for the up coming St. Patrick's Day.

Danica also has a new blog, and has some special blog candy to give-a-way. A direct quote from her blog...

Today's give-a-way for my 29-Day Giving Challenge is for another broach made by Moi! This one is made with polymer clay, glass beads, and wire.

The special give-a-way I spoke of yesterday will be posted today, a little bit later.

Day 11 of 29 - Day Giving Challenge -BONUS DAY

Do you like jewelry?

I know that I do. Especially if it is hand made. Such as that by Danica of Harmony Jewelry Designs, Jewelry For Any Occasions (and come back tomorrow as there will be a give-a-way of a gorgeous bracelet by Danica... as well as my day 12 give-a-way). I digress....

Today's give-a-way as well as the next few will involve jewelry made by me, BrendaLea. And today's is a mixed-media polymer clay pin/broach. It is made with polymer clay, chicken wire, wire, paint, and glass beads.
Sorry about the picture not being clearer. Guess I need to get a tripod. Included with today's give-a-way is a sandwich cutter or crust remover, called Sweetbytes, as an added bonus. It's a dishwasher safe, unique crust and sandwich cutter that would have been perfect for Valentine's Day, but would be nice to show your love any day of the year.

Remember to tell your friends, as there will be a special double give-a-way tomorrow and the next few will be for unique one-of-a-kind jewelry. And if you post about my give-a-way on your blog or website, please leave me a message so that you will be in the special drawing at the end of my 29-Day Giving Challenge.

Day 10 of 29 - Day Giving Challenge

What's the style of your home decor? Is it country, contemporary, shabby-chic or something else? What about the way you decorate your Christmas tree, that is if you celebrate Christmas? Or maybe you like cross stitch, or who knows... even collect cross stitched items.

Well today's give-a-way has a touch of country flair to it. It is a collection of 4 handmade cross stitched ornaments (if you want to use them that way) or they could just hand in your home... from a dresser drawer, a a vanity mirror, or a door knob, or some place else that I ahve not thought of.

Anyhow, if you are interested in today's give-a-way, leave a message on this post. And remember, if you post this on your blog or web site...about my 29-Day Giving Challenge, please leave another post for me telling me where you posted about this, so that I can put you in the drawing at the end of this for a special gift.

Posted by Picasa

Please forgive my lousy photography today. For some reason everything has a yellow tint to it. But all the ornaments are white (not yellow like the top two look) and they all hang from a satin ribbon. The bottom two have the ribbon tucked behind them for the photo.

Nest for Wild Life Rescue

Here are more crocheted nest that I made for the wild life rescue agencies. I mailed more off to North Carolina on Friday. The first batch was received and they were tickled to have them. They will send me some pictures when they get them taken. And I wills hare them with you. Can't wait to see the baby animals using the nest that I so lovingly made for them.

I can usually get one large or x-large nest made in a day or several of the small or medium nest. I just use scrap yarn, 3 strands, because the animals do not care what colors their nest are. But most of the nest actually turn out to be pretty colors that work well together. The animals are just happy to have a soft, warm, and clean place to sleep. By using 3 strands to crochet with, they really hold their shape well. The bottom of the nest range in size from 4 inches to 10 inches. And they use the larger nest for squirrels and opossums, whereas birds are in the smaller nest.

I think these nest would even make wonderful candy dishes on a coffee table or desk. If it got knocked over, it would not break and it is also washable. I plan on making them for Christmas gifts next year to match the recipients decor, actually this year... 2009. I can see storing all sorts of items in them. Loose beads, paper clips, rubber bands, jewelry, candy, and so much more.

And this is a small, medium, and large nest.

These are both x-large nest, with the bottoms measuring 9-10"

This is a large nest. I absolutely love the colors of this nest.
almost kept it for myself, but I didn't. I gave it to the sweet animals.

Day 9 of 29-Day Giving Challenge

Do you make dolls? Do you like to use body parts in your collage work? Do you like to work with clay (polymer clay, that is)? Have you ever wanted to try polymer clay?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to sign up for today's give-a-way. Today we have a polymer clay mold and clay. I didn't show the clay as it will be a surprise. But there will be at least 4 packages of clay to go with the hand mold, and maybe another surprise or two!

This hand mold was designed my Maureen Carlson in 1993. She is an excellent polymer clay artist, as is Christi Friesen, who has recently started working with polymer clay and mixed media together, with some amazing results. Maureen has several books out and they are all wonderful. I personally own a couple of them.

Day 8 of 29-Day Challenge

This is today's give away. May not look like much, but if you like rubber stamping, there are some of those. If you like die cuts, then there is a new Sizzix hand cutter of a star shape. Do you like Cutter Bee tools? There are two of the Ladybug tools, and also a few other goodies like a tool for was embossing wax seals (or faux wax seals using a hot glue gun glue) and one that will dry emboss 'I Love You' and 'Thank You' onto paper or a card.

So if you are interested leave a comment in this post and you will be in the drawing. And remember if you post about this somewhere...like on your blog or website, please let me know as you will be in a special drawing at the end.

Birds Nest for the Wee Birdies and Baby Bunnies

These are some of the nest that I have been crocheting to donate to the several Wild Life Rescue Agencies in NC, NJ, and VA. These are the three basic sizes that I make and am now working on one that it even larger as one place needs them for baby squirrels and baby opossums. I found out about these from a blog that I visit, but for the life of me i can not seem to locate the blog at the moment.

The next two pictures are of the one mailed out last week. These are the dozen that I sent off to New Jersey last week. I hope they are the correct sizes that they need.

You can read more about these nest at Bevs Country Cottage Blog (this is not the blog where I originally heard about these though) were she also has a pattern for the nest. I don't personally use a pattern. they are easy to make and I can make several of the small one in a night and usually one of the large ones.

The day I went to the dentist and spent 2 hours on the road each way, I was able to create one of the medium one on the way down and another on the way back home. And even while sitting and waiting (you know how doctors and dentist are .....they love to make you wait)..... I was able to create 2 small nest. So it ended up being a very productive day, nest wise.

I just use scrap yarn (the wee birds and other animals don't care what color they are) and 3 strands at a time..... so the nest will be strong and stand up on their own. I crochet them very tightly, so their little feet don't get caught in them. Some of them really turn out pretty though with the mixture of yarn colors.

My Fur Babies

I have two of the smartest and most adorable fur babies. And I thought I would share them with you all.. Besides my two Grandsons, they are the vein of my existence. I would be lost without them.

This is Latte', she is part Papillon and will be 5 years old on April 15th. I have had her since she was about 6 weeks old. She is so very smart and a quick learner too. My dogs sleep with me, but there are times when I go to bed and Latte' isn't ready to climb into bed and would rather stay where she is. But this smart little cutie pie knows how to wake me up so that she can get my warm spot in the bed, and she is relentless too! When she wants my spot, she will NOT leave me alone until I get out of bed, on the pretense that she has to go outside. If I don't get our of bed, she gets louder and louder and if that doesn't work, she starts pawing at my arms opr face until I HAVE to get up. I tell ya... she is relentless and knows how to get what she wants. Then, when I do finally get up and start down the hallway, she runs right by me and jumps into my bed, my spot! She can be a stinker, but I love her with all my heart.

12/24/2008 Latte' chewing on her new Chrismtas stocking toy.

This is Coffee (can you tell that I really like my coffee?) a full bloodied and paper Chihuahua that only weighs 5 pounds. He was rescued from a breeder 4 years ago and he will be 9 on March 20th. When I got him, he didn't know what toys were or what to do with them, didn't know how to play, what love was, or even treats, and definitly was not house broken ( he still has accidents from time to time, but considering his life for the first 5 years, he's done really well). He was kept in a kennel 24/7.

Coffee has some, what some might call, quirks. From the day that I got him, he has given me a (what I call) a bath on my face, arms and legs every sincle day. He licks me or kisses me on every spot not covered by clothing, usually in the evening, usually in the evening spending an hour at a time in total concentration. Oh and he hates to be interupted when he is givng me my bath. A friend of mine and I believe that Coffee understands my health issues and it's his way of trying to help me.

Another one of his quirks, is that if there is a bag on the floor... groceries just brought into the house, a bag of trash getting ready to go out to the trash bin, a case of soda, or someone's purse .... Coffee will mark it!

And when Latte' gets a bath, for two solid days Coffee can not keep his mitts off of her. He won't let her our of his site, and he is constantly going after her. And the two of them get along better during that time, than any other time. And it;'s the only time that Latte' will yell at offee, as if to say "Leave me alone, I have a headache!"

Another ofhis quirks: he can't stand to not be right next to me. When I go into the office to create, he comes in there whinning, just begging me to come sit with him in the livingroom. Even though I have two doggie beds in the office, it's just not close enough to suit him. He would rather have me sitting in the recliner next to him or in bed sleeping 24/7. It drives him nuts when I take a shower and shut the bathroom door and he can't get in.

12/24/2008 Coffee laying in the recliner

The next two pictures (my Princes and my Prince) were taken with my digital camera that my Sister got me last year (2007) for Christmas, and I had never played around with some of the functions/features. So, one year later, that is exactly what I did. That is how I got these two pictures as well as tthe one above. And I do love my digital Samsung camera! Thanks Terry!

I hope you have enjoyed meeting my two little and sweet... sometimes stinkers, babies.

Day 7 of 29-Day Challenge

Happy Valentine's Day!

Do you work with polymer clay? Do you bake cookies? Do you like to make pressed paper sculptures (I think that is what it is called)....ya know... where you take thin layers of damp paper and press it into a mold. Or maybe you like to decorate your kitchen with kitchen utensils? And here is one more question.... maybe you collect Pampered Chef products?

Well if you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, then you need to leave a comment here on this post to be entered to win today's gift, my gift for the 29-Day Giving Challenge.

This brand new Pampered Chef cookie mold. It's in a heart shape (as you can clearly see) and it has the design of fruit...looks like pears, grapes, and maybe apples and oranges.

Perfect item being that today is Valentine's Day!

Please help me spread the word.... about my challenge* here, and the 29-Day Giving Challenge blog. You can help by telling your family, friends, and blog buddies. I really want these gifts to go to good homes.

Posted by Picasa

* It's my challenge to give something, anything, big or small away at least once a day for 29 days in a row. And since I don't get out much, due to health reasons, I need your help in spreading the word so that I can reach this goal I have set for myself. Please.

My give-a-way is open to anyone and everyone stopping by and leaving a comment on this post only, and a way for me to contact you (either via your blog or an e-mail address), should you be one of the winners.

My first item for this give-a-way is this beautiful Red and White handmade necklace that utilizes vintage beads, seed beads, and a toggle clasp.

My next item is a necklace and earrings set. They are both strung on waxed cotton cording and the beads are Picture Jasper. The earrings have sterling silver ear wires and the necklace closes with a vintage mother of pearl button.

My next give-a-way is a 2 for 1: this adorable Dotee Doll , made of fabric, yarn, and glass beads, and the Spring Journal I made out of tags, hand made paper and rubber stamps from See D's. It's a cute little journal that can be use for ...what else...journaling or maybe even a mini scrapbook...it measures approximately 3.5" x 6.5

This event will end February 11th and the winner will be drawn and announced on February 12, 2009. BTW, I'm an equal opportunity kind of gal, so I'll be using the random number generator to pick the lucky person.
